About the event
In May 2025, the Joe Gans 150th is stepping up to the plate to honor the extraordinary legacy of Baltimore’s own Joe Gans, the first African American world boxing champion and a dynamic figure in the early history of Black baseball. "In the Ring and on the Field" is a series of programs done in collaboration with the Hubert V. Simmons Museum of Negro League Baseball during their annual National Negro League Celebration festivities. Please join the museum and Joe Gans 150th for the week-long event series celebrating African Americans in baseball.
